Before becoming too dangerous to teach, Isobel Kleinman, a.k.a. Elizabeth Feinman, graduated from the State University of New York, College at Cortland with a BSE and went on to complete her MSE and a New York State Certification in School Psychology from Queens College in New York City. She began teaching as soon as she completed her undergraduate degree and remained in her school district from 1967 until February, 1999.
From 1976 until 1998 she was an active union leader, representing her building from 1976 until 1982 and then taking on the role of grievance chairman for her local, a job which she held for twelve years.
Her new life finds her writing. In addition to releasing, Too Dangerous to Teach, she has written Complete Physical Education Plans for Grades 7-12, is a coeditor of www.PELINKS4U.org, is a frequent contributor to NASPE talks, is a consultant to the NYC school system, is an adjunct at St. Francis Collge and has had several professional articles published.
Kleinman, who lives in Flushing, NY, spends her leisure playing tennis, golf, dancing, cycling, attending cultural performances, reading and traveling the world sometimes on bike. Since embarking on her writing career, Kleinman has shared her reflections of travels through Thailand, Peru, Vietnam, Australia and New Zealand, India, Israel in 2006, the Route of the Mayan, South Africa, Thailand and Vietnam, and her latest trip back to Israel in 2009, with friends.
